THE AWARD PROCESS: HOW IT WORKS
Women & Philanthropy inspires women to discover the power of giving
together. Each member of the program contributes a minimum of $1,000
annually, which is deposited into a pooled fund. Throughout the year,
members are invited to hear and learn about select areas of interest
from across the university.
Faculty members who present to members during an academic year are
eligible for a Women & Philanthropy Award, and in April, members receive
by mail a ballot and copies of abstracts submitted by the presenters. To
vote, each member allocates a total of 100 points to presenters as she
sees fit. Points allotted by members are totaled, and funds are
distributed among presenters based upon the percentage of total points
each receives.
Women & Philanthropy Award recipients are notified of their awards in
May and receive their awards in installments over the course of the
following academic year. In return, recipients agree to keep the
membership of Women & Philanthropy apprised of progress related to the
programs receiving funds.
