Circle of Friends: Dr. Ken Clemens

Ken Clemens

A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Dr. Ken Clemens studied at Ohio State on the G.I. Bill and completed his DDS in 1954. He has been an advocate for Ohio State for nearly 60 years, helping to develop the university's Lima campus and serving as a pioneer charter member of the President's Club in 1963. He continues to supervise fourth-year Ohio State dental students in a Lima dental clinic. "I look forward to it every day," he says. MORE

The 50th anniversary year is the perfect time to introduce the dedicated and experienced team who helps you with every aspect of your donor recognition society. Meet Cheryl Sefchick, director of President's Club Services. A member of the team since 2004, she works with current and prospective donors and partners with colleagues to share information about the President's Club. "To me, working at Ohio State is a privilege," she says. "It's amazing to be part of an institution that makes a major impact on the state of Ohio and the world beyond." MORE

Alfred Yates

Your support of academics, health sciences, and the arts opens a world of possibilities for Ohio State students. Meet senior Alfred Yates of Sunbury, Ohio, who is grateful for the opportunity to develop his leadership skills and to discover his passions. He will continue his studies at the Fisher College of Business in a specialized master's program. "But for Ohio State, I would not be who I am today," he says. MORE

Bill and Sue Lhota's legacy

A 1964 graduate in civil engineering, Bill Lhota earned the first college degree in his family. Now retired from American Electric Power and the Central Ohio Transit Authority, he and his wife, Sue, are supporting the College of Engineering, the College of Medicine, and the Office of Alumni Career Management. "Ohio State was the only college I ever considered," he says. MORE

To eat better or exercise?

American adults who prepare their own meals and exercise on the same day are likely spending more time on one of those activities at the expense of the other, a new Ohio State study suggests. The research showed that a 10-minute increase in food preparation time was associated with a lower probability of exercising for 10 more minutes—for both men and women. MORE

Evening with WOSU Public Media

Visit the John Glenn Theater at COSI (333 West Broad Street) to see the film John Glenn: A Life in Service, which chronicles the path of the Ohio-born American hero who dedicated himself to a life of duty and public service. Hear from WOSU general manager Tom Rieland, COSI executive director David Chesebrough, and film director Ben Bays. Support for the production is provided by the Ohio State Department of Athletics.

Private tour of Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design
June 6, 6:00-7:00 p.m.

The Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (1224 Kinnear Road) is an internationally recognized, collaborative think space to make, create, imagine, and, above all, connect. Guests will have an opportunity to observe, ask questions, and physically interact with demonstrations that typically include digital media performances, educational games, 3D animated films, virtual worlds, 3D tracking devices, and motion capture technology.

Stone Lab day tours
11:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Choose one of two dates and join us for a day on Lake Erie visiting Stone Lab and Gibraltar Island. Enjoy a tour of the South Bass Island Lighthouse and the Aquatic Visitors Center, both managed by the Ohio Sea Grant.

Please note:

  • President's Club donors are responsible for their own transportation to and from Port Clinton and may be responsible for a $5 parking fee at Miller Ferry. While free parking is often available, Port Clinton crowds that day will determine availability.
  • The President's Club and Ohio State's Stone Lab will cover the cost of ferry and island transportation, guided tours, snack, and lunch.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Tours take place rain or shine!
